A TASTE OF FARM
Curious about the entertainment options available at a FARM Gathering, but never had the time to commit to traveling long distances for an entire weekend, or the inclination or ability to pay for lodging and meals? This year, for the first time, our location at the Techny Towers Retreat and Conference Center in Northfield, IL (in Chicago's near northwest suburbs) makes it possible for you to come and observe the Juried Showcase and Performing Lane Open Mic performances and even participate in the jams and song circles - the heart of our friendly, cooperative and noncompetitive Gathering. The charge to attend Friday night's showcases and Performance Lane, OR Saturday afternoon's showcases, PLUS the Saturday evening awards ceremonies and Performance Lane, is only $10 per day, parking included. (You're on your own for dinner, of course-but you have many options along Willow and Waukegan Rds.). On Friday night, an hour of Performance Lane starts at 8 p.m., followed by Juried Showcases hosted by Rich Warren from 9-11 p.m. On Saturday afternoon, Juried Showcases are from 2:45 to 4:45 p.m., then come back after dinner for the FARM Awards ceremony at 7 p.m., followed by Performance Lane until 11 p.m. We have found over the years that the quality of Performance Lane is very high overall, and we are sure you will want to attend.
And for just $5 a night extra, you can join us to share your own songs or play along in the jams and song circles after each night's Performance Lane. We're hoping you can drop by and discover the huge umbrella that is folk and acoustic music in the Midwest-all ages and many subgenres. Bring an instrument (or just your ears and voices) and see for yourself that "A Mighty Wind" was only a movie. We're hoping that once you see what we're all about, you'll be back next time to join us for the weekend!
Peace and song,
Sandy Andina
