The Wilhelms copyFriday @ 9:30 – The Wilhelms

The Wilhelms (Andy Ploof and John Wendland) are two notable singer/songwriters and multi-instrumentalists from St. Louis.  Their songwriting is rooted in a musical honesty that takes human imperfection as a working definition for music with soul. Their debut acoustic release Film at 11 was made for two voices and two guitars and recorded by Gary Gordon of The Gordons.

Friday 9:50 – Josh HartyJosh Harty copy-1

Touring continuously across North America & Europe, Josh Harty’s unique blend of American music has become a must-hear for those who keep the tradition of country, blues and folk close to their hearts. Born and raised on the plains of North Dakota, his father, both a preacher, and the Police Chief of their small town, was also Harty’s music mentor. Nowadays, Josh is always looking for that balance between the rolling road and the people who inspire him, trading stories around kitchen tables and on theatre stages. His live shows combine good story telling with journeyman musicianship.

Dennis Stroughmatt copyFriday @ 10:10 – Dennis Stroughmatt

Fingers and bow flying, Dennis Stroughmatt takes listeners on a musical odyssey not so different from his own musical journeys into Upper Louisiana Creole culture. Taught to play fiddle by local Creole fiddlers living along the Mississippi River near St. Louis, Dennis is now the authority on this regional pocket of American antiquity. A vibrant blend of Celtic, Canadian and Old Time sounds, this unique music bridges gaps between contemporary Canadian and Louisiana Cajun styles. Preserved by families in the Ozark foothills, the music remains largely intact and true to the traditions that have been passed down over three centuries.
